La La Land: Movie Review

Here it is, the movie everybody has been talking about. The winner of 6 Golden Globe Awards, and nominated for a whopping 14 Academy Awards. Now to say this movie is great would be an understatement in my opinion, it was beautiful in every aspect. Not only were the performances great, it had that magical classic movie feel. Definitely a huge relief from all of the cookie cutter blockbuster movies coming out.

The music in this movie fit perfectly with every scene, I did not feel like they were misplaced or conveyed the wrong emotion at all. Especially the two main themes, “City of Stars”, and “Mia and Sebastian’s Theme”. They transported you into the film, as if you were Mia or Sebastian. I know many people don’t like musicals, and to be honest I’m not that big of a fan of musicals either, but I just had to see what all the fuss was about, and it did not disappoint.

The story is about two artists both struggling in their respective arts. Sebastian (Ryan Gosling) as a pianist, who wants to open his own jazz club, and Mia (Emma Stone), who is an aspiring actress who can’t seem to get her big break. They help each other reach their dreams while falling in love with each other. Sounds basic right? true, if you lay the plot down on the table as is, it sounds very boring and unoriginal. It’s how the plot unfolds, and the journey of these two people’s lives, mixed with the cinematography and music that brings this film together into an awe-inspiring story.

To wrap it up, if you haven’t seen La La Land yet, get out of the house this weekend and go see it! It’s a beautiful movie with great performances by Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. A movie that’s sure to make your heart soar!
